Hervé Barmasse was the first to complete this route in early July 2024, cycling for 15 hours to tackle the impressive elevation gain, which is reminiscent of the numbers found in 8000-meter mountains. A test of physical endurance that the mountaineer described as similar to climbing in the Himalayas: "Cycling for so many hours is akin to the great climbs of the Himalayas or traversing the Alps, where the mind plays a crucial role in overcoming difficulties like fatigue, managing the cold, and handling risk. It may sound strange, especially coming from a mountaineer, but during the journey, the biggest challenge was dealing with the freezing temperatures, along with long hours of solitude. However, I experienced moments of deep connection with nature, such as during the ascent of the Pordoi in complete darkness, where the silence and the rustling wind created an almost magical atmosphere. Cycling on alpine passes at night is one of the most beautiful memories of this experience."
