CARVICO: AN ECO-SUSTAINABLE WAISTCOAT FOR THE QUEEN OF GRAN FONDOS

For the 32nd edition of the Maratona dles Dolomites - Enel, scheduled to take place on 1 July 2018, Carvico has produced an exclusive eco-sustainable waistcoat, made of 100% recycled plastic bottles.

Over 9000 athletes from all over the world will be representing a really important value: respect for the environment. The event, as declared by its patron Michil Costa, has an important objective: to become a truly zero emissions event within the near future. This objective is shared by Carvico which, as a gold partner of the event, has produced an exclusive eco-sustainable waistcoat made with polyester “special edition Maratona 2018” fabric, 100% recycled from plastic bottles. We should remember that a PET bottle left in the environment takes over 700 years to start to break down and in the word 20 million tonnes of bottles are currently produced! Recycling means acting responsibly, giving new life to plastic and making a real gesture to safeguard the planet. To package the 10,100 waistcoats dedicated to the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel over 72,000 bottles have been recovered and 4,600 kg of CO2 have been kept from polluting the environment!

The recycled polyester used for the waistcoats, with respect to virgin polyester, not only gives a second life to the plastic but also requires less energy throughout the production cycle. “We believe in sustainability – declared the President Laura Colnaghi Calissoni. Motivated by our professional passion and inspired by the force of nature, within Carvico we are constantly searching for a balance that reflects our whole production process to give life to cutting edge technical fabrics that really respect the environment. Promoting environmental responsibility means investing in the present to experience the future and for many years within Carvico we have been implementing innovative environmental policies that aim to create a really sustainable production chain, from start to finish, to contribute to the circular flow model. “Nature’s Voice” is the name that we have given to this commitment to nature. Cycling wearing our waistcoat will be a small gesture that means a lot. Sports lovers cannot fail to be nature lovers. Wearing sustainability will be the way that the 9000 athletes who have chosen the marathon can show this”.
