Where colors meet, the Maratona medal is born

It is not just a medal. It is a symbol. A meeting point between material, color, and people that embodies the meaning of this year’s Maratona theme: PAX.

PAX stands for peace, encounter, sharing, and unity. A message that takes shape through a medal capable of showing how diversity can be transformed into beauty. Each medal is born through a long artisanal process. Everything begins with 3.5 cubic meters of 50 mm maple wood boards, which are then divided into smaller pieces ready to become thousands of unique medals. The first step is color: the surfaces are painted with a yellow base and worked using powdered mineral pigments mixed with a natural fixative. Colors meet, overlap, and blend together, creating shades that are always different and unrepeatable.

It is not just a medal. It is a symbol. A meeting point between material, color, and people that embodies the meaning of this year’s Maratona theme: PAX.

And this is precisely where the medal takes on its deepest meaning. Just as every person is different, every medal becomes unique. No two are alike. Colors blend together just as people, cultures, languages, and stories come together along the roads of the Maratona. And it is exactly from the union of these differences that something extraordinary is born.

The PAX logo then takes shape, carved into the wood through a handcrafted process that gives depth and character to every piece. The wooden boards are then transformed into the round medal shapes, completed with the stamp on the back, the hole for the cord, and the final manual finishing touches.

The final result is not simply a medal to wear around your neck after crossing the finish line. It is the symbol of a community coming together in the Dolomites to share the same passion, overcoming borders and differences.
