The materials used are 2.5 cubic metres of pine wood in 60 millimetre planks and 60 kilos of "The Wengen Strata" stone, collected in the village of La Val in Alta Badia. The working process is quite complex. First of all, the stone pine planks are cut into small pieces of about 110x650 millimetres, for a total of 1400 pieces. The "Umanité" logo is engraved on these boards to a depth of about 1.4 millimetres.
The stones are then split and ground into a fine powder. The stone powder is then filled into the engraving of the 'Umanité' logo and then brushed. The wooden circles (8.ooo pieces) are cut from the plates, which are carefully sanded to remove any excess. On the back of the medal, the stamp with the logo of the Maratona, the word "Finisher" and the date are applied. Finally, all the medals are perforated so that the lanyard can be attached.
It was a tough job but the result is wonderful.

We calculated that the whole process took about 750 hours, or 5.5 minutes per medal.
We would like to thank Daniel Frenes, the creator and supervisor of the project, as well as the companies MALBO SRL and KARL PICHLER AG, who helped us to create eight thousand unique and wonderful medals. Now it's your turn to win them!
