Maratona for Kids
created and organized by Sportful
Taking part in the Maratona dles Dolomites - Enel is a dream come true for adults and an experience they are unlikely to ever forget.
Together with Sportful, we asked ourselves: why wait to be adults to enjoy this dream? So, thirteen years ago, thanks to Maria Canins' intuition, "Maratona For Kids" was created. It is an event which allows many kids, both local and visiting who cheer on their parents during the Maratona for "adults", to experience what it's like to hop on the saddle on a safe route closed to traffic.
It is a joyful, festive event which brings life and colour to the area in the days preceding the main event at the foot of the Dolomites, which will be taken on during the weekend.
The 13th edition follows the winning format that the event has had during the last few years. On Saturday 6th July 2019, the "Maratona for Kids" organised by Sportful and the friends of Alta Badia will take place with an amateur competition for children aged 6 to 12. The use of a helmet is mandatory and registrations are limited. For the first 400 that will register will be given a free exclusive cycling jersey, specially designed by Sportful. The jersey they wear will feature a unique theme in celebration of a specific initiative. It changes every year, meaning the jerseys are almost like collectables!
Both the Sportful jersey and the medal will be designed by Fabio Vettori (www.fabiovettori.com), the famous artist who created Le Formiche by Fabio Vetttori. There's another reason that will give clout to this event dedicated to young athletes.
The event will be held in Corvara at the adjacent lawn at the arrival area of the Maratona dles Dolomites - Enel. The departure is at 10.30 a.m. and batteries will be made starting by age class. Mountain biking is recommended. No bikes or helmets are rented on site.
Entries will be held exclusively on Saturday morning starting at 9 a.m. directly at the venue and will cost € 5,00 per child. All proceeds will be given to charity to purchase 100 apiaries that will be entrusted to 100 local bee-keepers in Northern Uganda. Thanks to the honey they will make, they will be able to support their families and make sure their children have money for food and school. This project is curated by the Association of Groups “Insieme si può…” NPA/NGO (www.365giorni.org).
The parents of the children attending the Maratona for Kids are kindly requested to present at the registration the completed consent.
