Program of the Italian National Transplant Centre (CNT) and the AIDO Alto Adige in occasion of the Maratona dles Dolomites
The Italian National Transplant Centre (CNT) is a technical body of the Ministry of Health; the law n° 91 dated 1st April (1999) states that CNT is located at the National Institute of Health premises. CNT promotes, coordinates and addresses different activities related to national organs, tissues and cells donation and transplantation. In particular, CNT reports and processes data involving donation, transplantation and management of the waiting lists; besides, CNT defines protocols and guidelines for the activity carried out by the Interregional and Regional Centres in order to level withdrawal and transplantation activities in Italy. Moreover, CNT promotes information through different projects based on public awareness in the field of organ donation and, in the last few years, it has dedicated particular attention to the theme of “Transplant and Sport”, supporting sport and scientific initiatives. Among these, a project by the name of “Trapianto…e adesso sport” (“Transplantation…and Sport now”) was launched a few months ago in order to promulgate among transplanted patients the importance of physical activity and support scientific research in this area. Within this project, CNT is organizing in Corvara, for the forth year running , a meeting called “Sport and Transplant”; the event is promoted in conjunction with the Maratona dles Dolomites, AIDO Alto Adige and is under the sponsorship of the Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano.
